SPORTS BRIEFS:
Running Rampage at the RAC
The City of Lacey Parks and Recreation department is hosting the 3rd annual all-weather, all-terrain, all-out obstacle course race on October 12th at their prized Regional Athletic Complex.
Racers will finagle their way across a 3.1 mile obstacle course that will force them to, “crawl through a mud pit, scale a cargo net, run up a hill of sand, careen down a giant slip and slide, high step through a field of tires, crawl through a giant tunnel, weave through a web of ropes, jump over fire and more!”
Last year, 940 foolhardy folks took on the challenge. This year participation has been expanded from adults only to include 14+. Registration costs $59 per racer and should be taken care of immediately as the official deadline has already been extended.
Organizers encourage people of all levels of athleticism to come out. “The course is set-up so most people will be able to do it. You can run, trot or walk at your own speed. If there is an obstacle you feel is too difficult, you can go around it.” Enthusiastic teams and creative costumes are also encouraged.
Parking at the complex will be limited so participants should carpool. Or, Intercity Transit route 62B runs in front of the complex and begins service at 8:30 a.m.
When: Saturday, October 12, 2013, 9:00 a.m. Where: 8345 Steilacoom Road SE, Lacey. Information: , or
