Jay’s Produce -

Deliveries by Kiley Smith

by Holly Graham

Many who live on Olympia’s West Side know about Jay’s Farm Stand – and shop there, finding the prices and the produce good, the staff helpful and friendly. It was Aberdeen native Kiley Smith, employed at Jay’s since 2010, who had the great idea of offering a produce delivery service to restaurants, the homebound, elderly, disabled, and anyone who needs it. She began the service last September, and her great idea is gaining ground!

Kiley makes deliveries for only $5.00 within a 20-mile radius of Jay’s, providing same-day service often within an hour after the order is placed. “For large orders, we may deliver the next day,” says Kiley. “Restaurants are signing up. So far, I deliver to Character’s Corners, The Basilico, Ben Moore’s, Aqua Via, Tasty Morsels, and The Waterstreet Cafe either weekly or bi-weekly. We offer the best deals in town, and I encourage restaurants to try the service because they get 10% off the cost of the order,” Kiley explains.

“Our brochure tells what’s available…a large selection of vegetables and fruits, including organic options, dried fruits, Hector’s Salsas, Hot Rooster Sauce, Timmon’s Honey, Blue Heron baked goods, Johnson’s cheeses, jerky and smoked meats, Bliss chocolates, dressings of all kinds. I am happy to bring a brochure to anyone who asks, or one can be picked up at Jay’s anytime,” Kiley adds. “Customers should ask about case prices, too.”

“When customers order from us, we develop a good relationship that includes quality service and advice on produce as needed,” Kiley says. “What people may not know is that Jay’s is also a welcoming outlet for area farmers with produce to sell. As appropriate, Jay’s will buy outright or take goods on consignment.”

“Support local businesses! Jay’s provides affordable produce daily, at competitive prices in these times,” Kiley enthuses. ”Good produce for all!”
